2012 Holocaust Writing and Art Contest Guidelines
Deadline: March 16, 2012
Open to students in grades 8-12 in the Coachella Valley
Prizes: 1st place $300, 2nd place $200 and 3rd place $100 winners will be chosen in both Writing and Art categories for Division 1 middle school and Division 2 high school entries.

To Enter
WRITING ENTRIES: All entries must include an Entry Form. Entry forms can be filled out and submitted online at www.toleranceeducationcenter.org along with the attached essay. Entries must be no more than 1,000 words. List any resources (books, movies, websites) you used to help write this entry at the end of the paper.
To submit: Essay and Entry Form can be submitted together directly from the web site www.toleranceeducationcenter.org (preferred).
Or mail/drop off Entry Form and Essay to Tolerance Education Center, 35147 Landy Lane (off Bob Hope at Ginger Rogers), Rancho Mirage, CA 92270, Monday-Friday 9 to 5.
ART ENTRIES: Art entries must include a an Entry Form which can be downloaded and printed from (Click here to download Entry Form). Art entries must also include an artist’s statement (a description about the piece) of up to 100 words and attached it to the back of the entry. Entries cannot be larger than 11” x 17” and must be flat (paper or canvas). Use a fixative if you use chalk, charcoal, pastels or anything that smudges.
To submit: Drop off at Tolerance Education Center, 35147 Landy Lane (off Bob Hope at Ginger Rogers) , Rancho Mirage, CA 92270 Monday-Friday 9 to 5.
DETAILS: Each entry (one per student) must represent the independent effort of the writer/artist. Entries that do not follow the guidelines or that do not include a completed Entry Form will be disqualified. Entries will become the property of the Tolerance Education Center. The Center reserves the right to publish and/or display all work. Winners will be chosen based on interpretation of the theme, creativity and technique.
