Holocaust Survivor/Artist to Debut Works at Tolerance Education Center
When the Tolerance Education Center unveils an art exhibit on January 28th, it won’t just be showcasing amazing artist, Kalman Aron.  The Center will also be commemorating the date of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz Birkenau, and participating in Legacy of Hope, sponsored by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
Aron is himself a Holocaust survivor, having spent seven years at various camps, where he survived by sketching guards and other officials and offering them as gifts.  Now, more than 60 years later, he continues to work as an artist, still doing portraits but also working in contemporary art and mixed media.
The Tolerance Education Center exhibit will be Aron’s first in the Coachella Valley and was arranged by Richard Almada.  An Artist’s Reception is scheduled for January 27th

from 6 – 8pm and is open to the public.
