The Tolerance Education Center will commemorate LGBT Pride Month with a 4-day long observance and celebration from Thursday, June 24, through Sunday, June 27, 2010. All events will take place at the Tolerance Education Center in Rancho Mirage with the schedule as follows:
Thursday, June 24, 6:30 p.m.. -- Panel Discussion with local religious leaders; “My Sexuality vs My Religion and Discovering and Exploring the Roots of Hatred.” Reception to follow.
Friday, June 25, 6:30 p.m. -- Movie and Discussion; “The Times of Harvey Milk”.
Saturday, June 26, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Workshops to include:
10-11:30 a.m. Marriage Equality – What Have We Learned? Key findings in changing public perceptions.
10-11:30 a.m. LGBT in the Military – Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, I was kicked out of the military for being Queer.
10-11:30 a.m. LGBT Legal Issues: marriage, adoption, social security, real estate, living wills, etc.
1:00-2:30 p.m. LGBT in the Holocaust
1:00-2:30 p.m. Teen Suicide in the LGBT Community – Lifeguard Workshop, The Trevor Project
3:00-4:30 p.m. Listening-Truth-Compassion; an Interactive Workshop to transform personal bias
3:00-4:30 p.m. Minorities within the Minority – Intolerance within the LGBT Community
Sunday, June 27, - 2:00 p.m. -- Let’s Celebrate LGBT Pride Day!
Open House with Food, Entertainment, Games, Movies, Door Prizes... Fun for the Whole Family!!
ALL EVENTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, FREE OF CHARGE!. Seating for movie, workshops and panel discussion is limited and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. The Tolerance Education Center is located at 35147 Landy Lane in Rancho Mirage, which is one block east of Bob Hope Dr., South of Ginger Rogers.
